Tsigereda Tafesse is a governance and management professional with strong track-record of engagement in public sector capacity building, decentralisation and governance, urban management and service delivery. Her experience encompasses programme/project planning and management, setting up monitoring plans and instruments for development projects as well as designing and implementing communication strategies.

She managed national media and socioeconomic surveys in six African counties including Ethiopia. Serving as a senior policy advisor and knowledge management expert for GIZ, Tsigereda supported federal and regional reforms to strengthen local urban governance and to improve service delivery for citizens.  She also headed the establishment of the Ethiopian Cities Association and initiated and led the organisation of the annual ‘Ethiopian Cities Day’ which is now owned and sustained by the Ethiopian government as the ‘Ethiopian Cities’ Forum’.

Consulting for New York University (NYU), Tsigereda coordinated the Ethiopia Urban Expansion Initiative advising 18 Ethiopian cities in preparing their long-term expansion plans that promote inclusive and sustainable urban growth imbedded with a self-financing urban land supply system.

Tsigereda served as the programme and communication advisor of the former First Lady of Ethiopia, H.E. Roman Tesfaye; where she supported the social and economic development initiatives of the First Lady.
